Carola DiLorenzo, LMT, Certified Bowenwork therapist and structural integration bodyworker
Carola is a therapeutic bodyworker with over 25 years of experience. She has been actively exploring the healing potentials of various bodywork modalities that focus on rebalancing the myofascial system and energetic pathways. Her training includes in-depth studies of Structural Integration, Myofascial Release, Osteopathic Manual Therapies including Visceral Manipulation and Craniosacral Therapy as well as Functional Nutrition.
Her more recent studies in Bowenwork, Somatic Movement and Functional Movement Exercises have focused on exploring the vital role of the nervous system. Rebalancing and reeducating the nervous sysem is paramount as few body structures have more influence over your health and well-being than your nervous system.
Carola’s extensive knowledge of the myofascial system is an integral part of her treatment sessions. She has worked with dancers, athletes, circus performers and has extensive experience with mild to severe traumatic injuries, acute and chronic pain conditions, postural imbalances, overuse syndromes, scoliosis, cancer patients, children, and those seeking stress relief.
Carola is passionate about movement and its impact on mood, mobility, and well being. Since 2000 she has developed and taught private and group classes in myofasical meridian release to alleviate chronic pain and muscle tension and to improve mobility. She also teaches Functional Exercises and Somatic Movement to reawaken motor/muscle amnesia, and recalibrate and reeducate the nervous system.
Carola offers single and multiple modality treatment sessions to stimulate the rebalancing, restoring and rejuvenation of your health and well being.
Services Offered by carola:
Bowenwork is a gentle yet powerful soft tissue therapy that originated in Australia. Bowenwork rebalances myofascial tension, resets and reeducates the nervous system and stimulates the body’s energetic meridian pathways. Small, cross-fiber rolling movements at specific locations of muscles, tendons and ligaments are followed by short pauses to allow the nervous system to integrate and respond to the sensory signal. The pauses are essential to Bowenwork and much like the silence between musical notes, they give emphasis to particular elements and are a powerful component to this healing modality.
Cranial Sacral Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, healing bodywork modality that focuses on restoring the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, restoring the inherent movement of the craniosacral bones and rebalancing the craniosacral rhythm. Restrictions in the craniosacral system can occur due to prolonged muscle tension, postural habits, head or facial injuries, motor vehicle accidents, surgeries, dental braces, birth traumas and many other factors. The release of restrictions in the membranes surrounding the spinal cord and the craniosacral bones can alleviate deep tension in the body and have a profound influence on one’s health and well being.
A therapeutic technique that assesses and treats restrictions in the sliding and gliding movement of organs relative to surrounding soft tissue structures. Restrictions and adhesions in these deep myofascial tissues may be attributed to surgical scars, traumatic injury, infection, illness, poor posture, prolonged stress, or digestive issues. As Visceral Manipulation impacts both the physical and energetic aspects of dysfunction on a very deep level, only a few organs are treated during a session. The remainder of a Visceral Manipulation treatment is combined with either Bowenwork, Craniosacral, or Myofascial Release.
Myofascial Release addresses restrictions and adhesions in the myofascia surrounding and enveloping muscles, tendons and ligaments. Long, slow strokes coupled with gentle joint movements elongate the superficial and deep layers of fascia. A myofascial treatment session reduces pain, tension, stress, and movement restrictions, as well as increases mobility, postural alignment, and blood and lymphatic flow to the tissues.
massage therapy—DEEP TISSUE OR SWEDISH
Research and clinical studies prove that massage therapy’s advantages include much more than just relaxation. The medicinal benefits of therapeutic massage can have a positive, lasting impact on your overall health and lifestyle. It can rid your body of every day stresses, reduce muscle pain and tension, help alleviate the discomfort of certain ailments and help restore balance to your body and mind. Deep Tissue Massage uses varying degrees of pressure to release chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscles, tendons, and fascia. Swedish Massage uses light strokes to calm the nervous system, reducing anxiety and tension in the body. Deep Tissue or Swedish Massages can be done as an individual session or combined in one session if needed or requested.
